Number 25 on my countdown of Top 40 albums is Queen by Queen. I don’t really want to be the guy who is like, “Queen had a long and commercially successful career with lots of unique and enjoyable music, but their relatively unpopular first album that the majority of people acknowledge as a stepping stone to greatness along with their second release is actually their best album,” but… well, here goes. Queen’s debut release IS their best record! HAHA!!!! I AM SO THAT GUY!!!!!!!!!!
As I discussed in my inclusion of Queen’s third release Sheer Heart Attack their strength often lied in their diversity, and indeed it did! They also had the unique ability to toe the line between pop music and vast creativity-a balance that few bands have been able to grasp successfully and even fewer have been able to do for as long as Queen. All that being said, the beauty of Queen’s debut release is a honed and cohesive hard rock sound. A perfectly honed sound mixed with very creatively written songs makes for one heck of an album. As a songwriter and composer myself, I strive to write music as creative yet memorable as the music on this album!
Track five on this album, “Liar,” is one of my favorite songs of all time! If you care to hear it, I included it in this post from last year.
For your listening pleasure, here are tracks four and eight from Queen, “My Fairy King,” and “Son and Daughter.”
Well, that does it for number 25 on the top 40 countdown! In case you are interested in other albums on the countdown, here are the links to numbers 26-40!
Be sure to tune in next week for number 24! Thanks for reading, and have an excellent week!
